My Good Dad

My good dad has big black eyes and curly black hair.He has strong arm and grew very tall.His legs are as tough like a rock.His skin is brown and smooth. My dad has a smiley face.

He was a fast runner and always helpful to me and my family. He sometimes takes me and my family to a fun place and he is very thoughtful.

My dad loves to talk and work. When I tried to find him he was always in the garden or lawn mowing. He also loves to watch TV and working with his friends.

                                                       

McLeod the Cat.

What’s orange and white with a white dot on it’s head? MCLEOD!!

My cat is a red and white crossbreed called McLeod. He has two rough but  brightly coloured ears poking out of his head. His eyes are as bright as flashlight, especially on an extremely dark night. When we bought McLeod, Sophie was so in love with him she almost fainted because of his spectacular orange colour!

McLeod is a cunning but lazy cat type that loves to sleep in the attic. Usually he goes up to the bunny cage and tries to figure out how to get In. Then one day he got In!!!!!!!!!!! I was looking out the window when an orange and white thing flashed round the bunny cage and I saw it was McLeod!! 

Whenever I go near the bathroom he's ready to “MEOW! MEOW! MEOW!” You know what I said about cunning? He pretends that he hasn't been fed! He has been our Cat for 5 years!

Character Descriptions

My Nan

My Nan is about 87 years old and has short white hair. Nan can’t walk because of her legs so she has a big wheelchair. Nan has visited me about five times. She has wrinkly skin and big eyes as blue as the sky.

When she was young she survived a bombing. The first bomb went through her bedroom and exploded around 4 floors below her. Luckily a rescue ship saved her from the next bomb.

Nan has been depressed ever since my poppa died. She still has the ashes when they burned him. Nowadays Nan lives in a neat and tidy house.

My Good Mum

My good mum has brown eyes like dirt. Some mothers have curly hair but my mum has the curliest hair you've ever seen. Her skin is soft as a pillow, she has some spots on her. She has slightly brown and white skin.  

She likes to watch her favorite TV shows. It's boring. Sometimes my mum is a little grumpy but she doesn't mean it. She is very lovely because she always cares about us. She always tries to be funny, well she is. She is kind because she makes sure that I have enough food inside my tummy. She's also clever because I tell her some maths questions and she answers it. Oh and of course she's noisy and she’s a loud singer. Wow she's silly sometimes. My mum is sneaky and thankful. I love my mum, why wouldn't I.

                                                

    My Dad, Robert

My dad has greeny, bluey, grey eyes. He also has a stubble which is like a beard. We call him Rob for short. He likes wearing skeleton t shirts. He wears black converses and he has freckles. He is so hairy but do not ask me if he shaves because he's as hairy as a pink polar bear. My dad has a big puku and dark brown hair. He might be fat but he has muscles.

My dad is talented by winning Black Ops Call of Duty Ghost and others. Once he got me a bike. I had to ride it to the shops to get milk and bread. If he sees a video game he will buy it if it's on special. But right now he is in Australia.

My dad means the whole entire galaxy to me. He loves his children just like he loves candy and chocolate cake.

The Storm

Boom! ZZZZZZ! Shhhh! went the thunder. I was frightened. The thunder was like a bomb exploding. I saw the lightning bolt shining through my window. I think somethings wrong with the weather!

"What was that?" I said. The rain drizzled down fast with a dripping sound with thunder until the rain stopped. No sound except the birds chirping in the night time. I still could not get a good night sleep because of the heavy rain pouring and the big thunder bangs.

The Shocking Eagle and the Scaredy Squirrel

Perched on a branch the eagle listened to his gnawing stomach, while looking for delicious food.

Suddenly the eagle heard a faint rustle of leaves in the distance. A second later, a flash of brown shot straight up a tree to a bunch of leaves. For a moment the eagle was confused.

"Where did he go? Where shall I go?" he thought in frustration. But then he saw a drey nearby. "Aha!" 

So the eagle did what every eagle would have done. Attack the drey, catch the animal and eat it! Simple.

So the eagle got to work. But the squirrel had different ideas. He jumped out of the tree with a sickening THUD! "That darned squirrel," the eagle thought. The chase was on!

As the eagle got closer, the squirrel just went faster. Finally the eagle was just about to catch the squirrel when... Proompf! The squirrel disappeared straight into a deep hole.

"Darn! Darn! Darn! Foiled again!"

Eagle vs Squirrel

Up high in a tree, an eagle was chasing a squirrel from tree to tree. The eagle was pounding its wings as hard as a pulse. The squirrel hid in its drey.

Suddenly the eagle swooped down destroying the drey. The squirrel dropped down from below the drey landing on the hard forest floor. Hungry and sad, the eagle kept on chasing the squirrel from tree to tree. 

Just in time the squirrel ran into a hole. The eagle landed on a branch next to the hole and peeked through. Then it started to attack the hole but gave up after a short while. The squirrel was safe!

Once upon a time on the tallest tree an eagle perched. Its eyes desperately searching for its meal as his hunger gnawed. 

Nearby in the leaves a squirrel's head popped up. He ran as fast as he could then he jumped on the big brown tree. The eagle was watching carefully. 
"Oh no! The eagle is going to attack!" said the squirrel. "Run for your life!"

The eagle flew up to the squirrel but the squirrel was running. He was so terrified. The squirrel ran into the drey but the eagle shook the drey. 

Immediately the squirrel fell down the tree. Then the squirrel ran up another tree and he jumped.

He felt very puffed out but he still ran. Then he saw his hole. He ran through his hole before the eagle caught him. The eagle peeped through the hole but there was no way he could get through. The eagle flew away. The squirrel poked his head out and the coast was clear. 

Strike

On Thursday the middle and senior school went to the auditorium to watch the Strike performance. Strike is a really, really loud drum band. When we got there it was really noisy.  When it started they started with a big bang.I felt like jumping out of my seat and screaming with fright. Then the two other people joined in with him. There names were Mr T, Taka and Jimbo. The instruments they were using was a Bass drum, drum kit and Cymbals and a high top and the Marimba. The Marimba sounded like waves from the sea.

Then I started getting used to it. After they finished their first drum bit they started talking to us. Next they did another Drum bit again but it was much louder. Jimbo was kind of doing a little dance all way through when he was doing the drums. 

Then they said to all the teachers to sent 4 of the children in your class to come down and play on the wooden drums with them. The children that came down from our class was Netani and Ashleigh. The first instruction was to do 5 beats on the wooden drums then do a even harder one which I can't explain to you.

Next it was the teachers turn to do it. So 2 teachers came down and both there names were Sarah. Sarah 1 (Mrs Alsari) was on the high top and Sarah 2 (Mrs Cameron) was on the drum. 

The next thing they did was the cup song but instead of using cups they used cans on a black table.

After that they got 3 sticks and put them in their hands. They had a spray in their hands too. Then Mr T got a lighter and lit the sticks on fire and started spraying the spray at the fire and blowing at the same time. The fire was blowing in the air making steam waves. It is safe for them because they were trained by a professional and by a fire station.

The next thing Mr T said to us to politely ask Taka if he could play the piano for us. When he was playing the piano it sounded like God singing. I felt like jumping up and singing.

It was a shame because when Taka was still playing the piano Mr T joined in and made Taka stop.;(

Then they started talking to us again. They let us ask some questions about them.

When Strike was playing I heard fun and noise, I tasted joy. I felt like jumping around on the floor in front of the whole of Manurewa Central School. My favourite part of the show was when they were doing the cup song. I would recommend this performance to everyone.

Strike

The Noisy Strike

Boom! I got frightened when the drum played and I didn't pay attention. I started to look and it was so loud. I didn't block my ears because I wanted to hear rocking music. Mr T , Taka and Jimbo were the Strike people.

Bang! went the bass drum. Kapow! went the drum kit. The cymbals were in a good rhythm even the high top. Bash! It was so noisy I thought my ears would burst off.

The marimba was peaceful. It was like a lullaby. It sounded like the outside of birds yelling together. After that they called some volunteers to come and play. From our class Netani and Ashleigh went. Mr T told them what wooden parts to play. Ashleigh was confused which part to tap.

The teachers went down the steps and they played different instruments. They had a competition to see who played the best music and at the end they had to arm wrestle but they forgot that.  They both played really well. But they made a lot of noise. Mr T told them to do some flips.

They had a break and did some tricks with the cans. They did the cup song and Jimbo and Taka couldn't do the cup song. I laughed . When Mr T did the instructions one by one they started to get it and pass the cans to each other.

When they did the fire I thought they were going to blow it from inside their mouth. But they blew it from fire sticks. They used some sort of spray to blow the fire. It actually made music. They turned off the lights.

My favourite part was when they did the fire. I had a wonderful day. Sometimes I thought my eyes were going to fall off because I opened them so wide. The end.

Day and Night

At night we have dinner, have a shower, watch TV and go to bed. At day we go to school or go to work and have breakfast.

The sun only shines on half of the earth which  means on the other half it is night time. Earth spins on its axis making day turn into night .

When the Earth spins around, the side that was dark turns into day time and the side that was daytime turns into night time.The Earth takes 24 hours to spin on its axis and get back where it was.

The moon just goes around Earth so the moon has nothing to do with day and night.

Daytime is important because if we didn't have daytime we would be very cold and we would die.

Night and Day

When it's night we have darkness because it's not like day, it's like night. We can have dinner, watch television at night  and we can sleep at night.

In the daytime we have breakfast then we have showers in the morning. Earth spins on its axis. It spins around and around so we can have some light.

The moon does not cause day and night. The sun shines on earth and on the moon. It makes the moon shine at night. The sunsets every day. The sunlight is on one side of the Earth and it is dark on the other side.

Night and day is really special because it gives us air to breathe and light to see where you're going because if it is dark you can't see where you're going.

Day and Night

Day is a time to go to school and to work. Night is to rest, to sleep then shower and to have breakfast. Day and night is really good for us.

The sun is a big ball of fire. The light from the sun shines on one side of the earth.

Earth has one side of light and one side of dark so when the Earth spins around its the opposite.

The moon does not cause night time. It's just a reflection.

Day and night is important to us because day is for eating and going to school and watching television. Night is for sleeping and to shower and to eat.

The big difference between night and day is you have dinner and hot showers and sleep at night and have breakfast at day. Its light at day and dark at night.

The light from the sun shines onto Earth making day. One side of Earth is always facing the sun. While the other side of Earth isn't, making night. The Sun's rays can't reach one side of Earth so it shines on half of Earth.

The Earth is rotating on it's axis, while it's orbiting around the sun. While Earth is rotating the dark side of Earth is moving to the light side. So say England is in the dark and New Zealand is in the light. As Earth is rotating England is slowly moving to the light and New Zealand is moving into the dark.

Most people think that the moon makes night. But no, the moon doesn't make night. The reason we see the moon is because the sun's rays are reflecting off the moon so that it looks like it's glowing. It takes 27 days for the moon to orbit Earth. It takes 24 hours for Earth to rotate right around and takes 365 days to orbit the sun.

Day and night is important. You need to rest at night and play all day. Sometimes the days are longer.

Ruapehu

On Friday, my family and friends drove to Ruapehu to go skiing.

First we put on our boots and skis then we put on our poles.

Later we went to the top to ski. It was hard to walk on the snow because the snow was slippery and wet. So we tried hard to climb up. Soon me and my dad climbed up to the top.

"Be Careful!" My dad said.  So I skied carefully but I still slipped sometimes on the snow. But slowly I was getting better at skiing, but I still slipped on snow a lot and I still tried hard.

Then we started to go to the cafe. The cafe was nice and warm with the heater so we relaxed. Soon we went to the bus and drove back to the motel and relaxed.

I felt cold tired and relaxed and happy in the snow because I loved skiing and having fun.

The Quest to Beat the Curse!

(A Terraria story)

Chapter 1, the Old Man

One morning when I was looking for new stuff to smash, I spotted a shafty-thing and saw a person trapped inside. So I smashed my way down to the bottom floor and rescued him. “Thank you for rescuing me generous skeleton” he said. “But be careful, I was cursed and one day my master will curse me again.” So I said, “Don’t worry I will protect you. And any way is that a shower of demon eyes?” (Demon eyes are mythical creatures in terraria with nothing but an eye) “No Skeletron, those are fallen stars.” the Old Man said.

Chapter 2, Fun time

So I ran around the blanket of stars and said, “Man there’s heaps of them!” Even the Old Man was running around happily. I said “How much are these worth?” the Old Man replied, “Billions of dollars Skeletron. But what should I do with them?” I said. The Old Man answered, “Keep them Skeletron. Just watch out for demon eyes.”

  

Chapter 3, the mystery of the curse

So we duck jumped to the right, go to the left! “Finally that’s over aye Old Man!” “Yeah!” he said. Suddenly I heard a whoosh. “Old man, Old man? Where are you?” I shouted. “Oh! This must be the curse he was warning me about! I better go see where he is and fast! I’ll bring my health potions, emergency gloves (They help you break harder bricks) and my armour. Now I’m all ready to go!” I thought. “Don’t worry Old Man, I’ll rescue you!”

Chapter 4, Rescue Time! (A mini Book)

    

One day a mighty warrior (“who was me”) discovered the temple of DOOM!

He was sure it wouldn’t be too late to beat the curse. But still the warrior moved on.

The landscape changed, he didn’t give up. But still the warrior moved on.

He hoped he won’t, he was sure it wouldn’t be late to beat the curse.

Finally, he found the place, the place that holds the curse. He entered and got a shock. (When I say “shock” I mean fright).

Chapter 5, the battle (Part 1)

“Oh look a cute little canary (catnary actually). I’m going to call you Silky. I’ll put you in my mini portable cage. Now where is the old man?” A familiar voice was heard over the man eating sharks. “He’s over here Skeletron,” the voice said. “Go Silky, bring some TNT with you and try destroying him from above. Go! Catnary go!” Silky came back rough and ragged. “Oh you poor thing. What happened?” (This catnary can talk.) “The person I was trying to defeat was MASSIVE!” She said. “He said “Bring Skeletron before I lose my temper!” So we better go see where he is and fast!” So I followed Silky and she led me to the room the monster was in.

The battle, (part 2)

So I got to my battle station but before I could do that, I saw the Old Man “Old Man!” I call out. “He can’t hear you Skeletron!” said a familiar voice. “Hey how do you know my name?” I said. “Because I am your brother!” the voice says. “You Are?!!”  “Yes, I already told you that!” “ATTACK!” I yelled in rage. “So you want me to whack your head off with my mop!” he said. So I grabbed the nearest weapon and started attacking…   

So he swiped, I ducked.

His head got swiped clean off by my mop! So then Silky (the catnary) rescued the Old Man and set him free.

“Team Skeletron!”

Barbie

One summer evening Barbie wanted new clothes. Then her loving boyfriend came and made Barbie new clothing. "Thanks Ken" said Barbie.

Ken left. Barbies robot for the closet, he got turned on evil. Ken and Barbie were having a picnic. Barbie slipped on her picnic pants. Remember the robot was on evil then he shut down the closet. The robot said... " I shut down the closet because it's too hot for those pants.

Barbie said, "I can't take these pants off because I'm going on a picnic and these are my picnic pants". "Then I can't let you out I'm afraid" said the robot.

After that all Barbie's friends were hungry so Barbie got out her muffin cupcakes, with some milk. They stuffed their gob with milk.

Barbie called her loving boyfriend. He came to save them. He raced to Barbie and her friends. "Hi, Barbie I brang sherbet". "Ken what's wrong with the robot". "I don't know baby". Ken went to look at the evil and good button. "Barbie the button is on evil". Said Ken. “ohhhhhh”. Said Barbie. “Why didn’t I think of that”. Ken smashed the handle on good. The robot said “What happened”? Barbie said, ”You were on evil.”

”Sorry Barbie,” said the robot. Then they got saved and lived happily ever after.

Alma

Once there was a little girl named Alma, skipping softly in the cold windy town through the rough snow.

She stopped at a blackboard and she started writing her name. She looked back. There was a doll that in a shop window that looked the same as Alma. She tried to open the door. She felt mad so she bent down and  threw the snow at the door.  Angrily she walked away touching the wall.

Suddenly the door opened. Weeeeeeeee! Slowly she stepped  right inside. She looked at the doll under her feet and picked it up. It tried to escape. Oh  no! My doll has disappeared. “Boo!” Alma heard. Alma looked happy so she quickly climbed up the couch, her hand went higher and higher than the highest. She touched the dollies head. Suddenly Alma had a bad dream. Suddenly the toys started to look around. Eventually a man came and stole all of the dolls and took them all home and put them all at the window. The dolls woke up the man and got a little fright.

Monkey Me Crazy

Once there lived a crazy monkey called Emma. She was the most beautiful princess in the jungle. Every man in the jungle liked her.

A man named Brian lived beside her home. He was the best man alive and the most handsome guy in the jungle. She liked him so much she always wanted to eat with him a banana but they ate some pizza rolls. It was wonderful yummiest food so they munched it all up.

Emma’s mother and the father were the rulers of the kingdom called Hearts. “Who is that man? Is that a prince? O o o o can I go to him?" asked Emma. “Of course, go on," answered the king. A new girl said to the prince, “Wait I want a better look please." “No," answered Brian’s father but he carefully strode alone to the foot of the tower.

When he was at the end of the tower he saw a pretty good princess that was not being a good monkey princess.

Creepily he crept in, "Oh no how did she see me?" But she said, “Come on now  I'm not going to bite you. Come into the light". "Okay I'm coming my dear."  But yay they got married and they lived happily ever after. 

George Washington and the Ring of Fire

George Washington and the Ring of Fire

One sunny warm day a man named George Washington, was in the forest at a food truck eating a burrito, and drinking a strawberry milkshake, and also a hamburger. Once he finished his meal he looked outside and thought there was a path. But there wasn't. Immediately George Washington was lost. He had to stay in the forest. George Washington had an idea in his brain. He started walking forwards. All of a sudden he got to a place where he had to go left or right.

He picked left. Soon he started seeing some light. Immediately he looked up and saw a ring and it was on fire. He looked in the middle of the ring and saw the beach and said, “That's where I want to be." He climbed up onto the ring of fire and jumped through it. After that he climbed back down the other side and had an awesome time at the beach eating yummy food like hotdogs, burgers, burritos, chips, coconuts, strawberry, lemonade, banana and mangoes!

George Washington had the best trip to Hamilton after the party at the beach. But all of a sudden, “Roar!!" He looked outside a piece of pizza and more pieces the pizzas took him to an enormous giant. That giant was blocking the path. The scary giant was asleep and didn't wake up but George Washington wasn't able to get to the airport because the giant was blocking the airport. Immediately George Washington was freaking out. He had nothing to do.

After a while he thought he should wake up the giant. As soon as George Washington woke up the giant he said, “Please let me through. I need to go back to America. Can you pretty please let me through?” After a while the giant said, “Yes of course.” And George Washington and the giant lived happily ever after.

The Stegosaurs And The Maths Competition

Once in a green beautiful forest there was Stegosaurus with sharp spikes on his back and nerdy glasses. His name was Rooney. He was the smartest dinosaur in the forest. You might think that everybody hates him but they don’t. They actually like him because he is the smartest.

One day Rooney signed up for a completion called The World Championship of Maths. When the day came he got ready. “I am going to win”, sang the Stegosaurus.

He won all of his matches. Until he was in the final. “Last question!” said the emperor. “128+128”. Suddenly the other competitor said,”256”. “You’re right”, replied the emperor. Rooney was heartbroken. It was his first time losing. The rest of the dinosaurs were teasing him about how he lost.

After a few months later the other competitor wrote a letter to Rooney and said “Rematch yes /no?” Rooney thought about it. When the time came he marked yes. It was going to be on June the 25th of 2015. He trained and trained.

Six months later the day came. When he finished getting dressed he started to practice. He was nervous. When he got to Eden Park the crowd was going wild. The other competitor was a T-Rex. He had green skin, terrifying claws and two shiny glasses. If the T-Rex lost he might be tempted to gobble up the Stegosaurus. But luckily he was a nice T-Rex.

The two competitors started the game.  The emperor started to play the game. ”Buzz” ten questions done. But then it was a tie. “What is 256+256”, shouted the emperor. “I know this one”, said Rooney. “312”, said Rooney. “You're right”, said the emperor.

So Rooney won the championship of maths. The other competitor was depressed. But when Rooney won the championship he was very delighted.

Dear Giant

You got no friends. That is sad and you live in a cave.  You got no girl friend. I can get one for you. You got no tv and no food. I can give you some money. You can live with me.  I’ll feed you. I’ll give you a drink. Have a good day. We love you giant.
