The Stegosaurs And The Maths Competition

Once in a green beautiful forest there was Stegosaurus with sharp spikes on his back and nerdy glasses. His name was Rooney. He was the smartest dinosaur in the forest. You might think that everybody hates him but they don’t. They actually like him because he is the smartest.

One day Rooney signed up for a completion called The World Championship of Maths. When the day came he got ready. “I am going to win”, sang the Stegosaurus.

He won all of his matches. Until he was in the final. “Last question!” said the emperor. “128+128”. Suddenly the other competitor said,”256”. “You’re right”, replied the emperor. Rooney was heartbroken. It was his first time losing. The rest of the dinosaurs were teasing him about how he lost.

After a few months later the other competitor wrote a letter to Rooney and said “Rematch yes /no?” Rooney thought about it. When the time came he marked yes. It was going to be on June the 25th of 2015. He trained and trained.

Six months later the day came. When he finished getting dressed he started to practice. He was nervous. When he got to Eden Park the crowd was going wild. The other competitor was a T-Rex. He had green skin, terrifying claws and two shiny glasses. If the T-Rex lost he might be tempted to gobble up the Stegosaurus. But luckily he was a nice T-Rex.

The two competitors started the game.  The emperor started to play the game. ”Buzz” ten questions done. But then it was a tie. “What is 256+256”, shouted the emperor. “I know this one”, said Rooney. “312”, said Rooney. “You're right”, said the emperor.

So Rooney won the championship of maths. The other competitor was depressed. But when Rooney won the championship he was very delighted.

Once in a Lifetime

On a sunny afternoon there was an old man named Lachlan. He was in a diamond ship with a balloon up the top. He was flying slowly up the blue sky.

While he was pulling a rope part of the ship broke! Now he couldn't move anywhere. But then he heard a noise. He got his telescope and looked closely. Suddenly he found some gigantic green flying turtles. They were gliding like hawks. When he saw the gigantic green flying turtles an idea popped into his mind. He had a rope and tied a circle with the rope. He lassoed the turtle like a cowboy. "Yeeeeeeehaaaaaaaa!" His brilliant idea worked. The turtle was moving the ship.

Suddenly the turtle was shaking and flapping it's wings. But unfortunately when it was shaking it broke the rope. The old man was depressed!  Luckily, he saw another gigantic green flying turtle. As  the turtle flew beside his ship he leaped of the edge of the boat and landed on the turtle's shell.

He looked up and breathed through the air. When he looked down he saw the land. He was ecstatic! Surprisingly he heard the turtles talk. So he asked them if he could get dropped off at his house.

Botanic Gardens

Last Thursday Rooms 16,18,20 and 23 went to the Botanical Gardens.  We went on a bus. We went to the gardens because we had to learn about our topic recycling.

First we went into a garden house. Then we met Paul. He took us into a forest.He taught us about nature animals. Second he showed us a blanket about the animals and the invertebrates that live in there. Next we had to find brown,green and yellow leaves. Then we had to put it in a group.Then he told us about the F.B.I. You might be thinking about the police one but it's not. It stands for Fungus, Bacteria and invertebrates. Fungus and bacteria makes the leaves die. Invertebrates are animals that have no backbone. Invertebrates chew,chew,chew then poo,poo,poo.

After that we had to walk to the kids garden. First Paul gave us some soil to put in the gardens. We could choose any garden. Then we looked at the compost. We all made our compost with our buzz groups. We had to  put down a black mat . Second we had to put down wooden planks to make a frame. Third, we had to put in brown dead leaves and twigs. Fourth we had to put green stalks,leaves and vegetables. Then we had to put in coffee and horse poo. We had to mix it. Then we had to take all the wood out. After that we had to put the rubbish into the compost. Then we had to clean up the coffee on the ground. I wanted to get a broom but I didn't.  I just got a dustpan.

After that we went to make a worm farm with Sarah. The worms were called tiger worms. We also did it in our buzz groups. We had a green  recycle container. First we had put a river rock in the container so the worms can't get out. Second we had to put black mesh in the container. Third we put in little rocks. Fourth we put a green mesh at the top of the little rocks.  Fifth we put in strips of wet newspaper. Sixth we looked at the worms then put them in the container. But we didn't because Will just straight away put them in side the container.Then we broke vegetables and put it in there recycle container. The vegetables were cucumbers and other veges. Finally we put in a mat made out of carpet.

My favourite part of the day was when we got to play on the kids side and get a drink of water because it was a very hot day. At the Botanical Gardens I learned about the F.B.I which means Fungus Bacteria Invertebrate.

More Who Am I?

I am a year 4, 8 year old girl and I am also Maori. I have long, brown, curly, shiny hair. My eyes are bit, sparkly and brown. I have light tan, smooth skin.

I am artistic and kind to my friends. I am very, very loud and smart. I like reading. I'm good at cooking chocolate mud cakes. I like to play fetch with my puppy Max. I love animals especially dogs and elephants. 


I am an 8 year old boy and I am Fijian. I have black, straight, rough hair. My eyes are dark, dark brown like the night. My teeth are very shiny and white. I am medium build for my height. I have light brown skin like sand.

I am a smart person at maths. I am good at lots of sports. My favourite sport is rugby. I am very fast and energetic. I am a hard working boy and I am respectful to other people.

I like eating ice-cream and ice-blocks mostly popsicles and chocolate. I like going to the park with my friends and I like to read books, mostly super-hero books or adventurous books. I am lazy at home.

I am 8 years old and my family is from Fiji. I have long, straight hair. My skin is rough, hairy and dark brown. I am a year 4 girl. I am medium short. My eyes are dark brown and shiny. I have henna on my nails and skin. My lips are light brown and a little bit red. I am slim like a bee. 

I am kind to my friends and show respect. I am great at riding my sister's bike. Sometimes I am good at holding heavy things but I fall down. I really like helping people. Whenever I find a spider I get my mum's sandals and kill it. I am good at cutting vegetables but instead of cutting it I cut myself. 


I have black, short hair. I am an 8 year old boy. I have dark brown skin. I'm short like a pole. My lips are dry as a towel. My eyes are brown. My feet have dark skin. My eye brows are black. My eye lashes are long. My nose is chubby. My ears are like Alf ears. My hands are as fat as fat peoples. 

I am an 8 year old girl. I am Pacifika because my Mum is Maori and my Dad is Cook Islander. I have short wavy hair. I have dark brown eyes. I have soft light brown skin. I am short and very chubby.

My favourite sport is soft ball. I like the colour red. I am kind, arty, friendly and silly.
